Chanfrau & Chanfrau
The Chanfrau Family’s involvement in the legal system of Volusia County spreads over 70 years. W.M. (Bill) Chanfrau, Sr., his son, William M. Chanfrau, Jr., also called Bill, and, his daughter, Kelly Chanfrau come from a long line of family involvement in the legal profession of Volusia County, Florida. Not only do they practice in a historic home (it is a landmark in Daytona Beach, Florida, built in 1926), but the family has also been directly involved in the legal system since 1936. Bill Chanfrau Sr.'s grandmother, Gail S. Lynch was the first official court reporter in Volusia County, Florida in 1936. Until after World War II, she was the only court reporter in the seventh judicial circuit located in Northeast Central Florida.
Philip J. Chanfrau, Sr. began practicing as a court reporter in the early 1960s and succeeded Gail S. Lynch as the official court reporter until 1993. In fact, their involvement in the judicial system was key to the sons of Philip J. Chanfrau, Sr., going to law school and beginning to practice law.

In 1976, W.M. Chanfrau, Sr. established the sole practitionership for the practice of law in Volusia County. For more than 28 years he practiced with his brother Philip J. Chanfrau, Jr., in Volusia County, until Philip retired in 2002. For that 28-year period the firm was known as Chanfrau & Chanfrau. The firm continues practicing law under that name, still home to our Central Florida personal injury lawyers; however, William M. Chanfrau, Jr., has become a partner of the firm.
Since 2000 our father and son team has practiced together in the seventh judicial circuit in their principal office in Volusia County, Florida. William M. Chanfrau, Jr., was an Assistant State Attorney for three years before joining his father at their historical 701 North Peninsula Drive practice in Daytona Beach.
The firm is deeply involved in the community and contributes regularly in cultural affairs.
